Dayspring By Grace Alone Jewlery Set

One year ago Dayspring, through (in)courage gave me a beautiful set of jewelry to wear, give, use and review.

Shortly after receiving this set, I ended up in the hospital for a few weeks with very serious health problems.  I am constantly reminded by this jewlery that I am here by God’s grace.

I gave the set up earrings to a friend as a reminder to her and I wear the necklace almost daily.  People constantly ask me about it and it invokes conversation.

Thank you Dayspring for blessing my life, and others with this beautiful jewelry.  Thank you as well for having great patience with me as I have struggled with my health and keeping my promises for reviewing your gorgeous product!

Dayspring Redeemed Necklace Review

Dayspring graciously gave me a beautiful necklace that fits the Redeemed theme as the mirror I previously posted about does.

I wear it often as a reminder to myself and as a conversation starter with others. It has caught the attention of many and has been a great way to share God’s word.
What a lovely adornment for my neck, and another beautifully created treasure by Dayspring!

Dayspring Redeemed Mirror Review

I am proudly part of an online group of women in faith on (in)courage. Through this group I have been given an opportunity to review beautiful items from Dayspring! Here is my first review of Redeemed – Beautiful in Its Time – Jewelry Tabletop Mirror. I have been enjoying this mirror for weeks now and find myself gazing into it and reading the verse “He has made everything beautiful in its time” Ecclesiastes 3:11 and remembering that God made me just as I am for a purpose.

I regret that I have posted this review much later than intended.  I suffer with chronic illness that rears it’s ugly head time and time again, delaying many things that I would like to see accomplished in a timely manner.

I hope that you find this mirror just as lovely as I have!

Women of Faith – Seattle, WA – Oct. 28th-29th 2011

I could not be more excited for the upcoming weekend at the Women of Faith Conference!
I have been given this opportunity by http://booksneeze.com/ and am every grateful.
Times have been difficult for my family as it has been for so many around me. This weekend is something I would not otherwise have opportunity to be part of.
Here is a preview of what I have to look forward to!

A dear friend will be accompanying me to this weekend and I look forward to this time we will share. I love my family dearly and will miss them for the few days I will be in Seattle. While I will miss them, I look forward to this renewing of my spirit. I am on fire for my Lord, but the flame is low, and I wonder if others can even see that fire. Life has thrown so much at me, that I need to go renew and worship with other believers. I need to fill myself up so I can let others see that fire and so that I can enthusiastically share with them why I have JOY!
Please join us at this weekend of love and worship!

Fallen, by Angela Darling

Hauntingly beautiful. Twists and turns leading to an unexpected end. Fallen, by Angela Darling has left me with dreams of mysterious families and dark secrets waiting to be discovered.

When Marion Garver, just a young lady, embarks on a new journey in life as a governess to a family unknown to her, she soon realizes that her life will never return to how it once was. This beautiful story intertwines the lives of two very different Virginian families during the pre-Civil War era. Marion must learn how to dutifully attend to her student while quietly delving into the secrets that await her although doing so is risky for her and the lives of those around her.

Mrs. Darling has written a captivating book that kept my complete attention by giving very specific details of scenes and characters in the story. I could easily visualize the characters as she introduced them. She used quite a bit of modern language that I feel gave a fresh approach to reading about a different generation. She pulls us into another era with her modern phrases, replacing what could potentially be confusing terminology, putting us at ease while reading her story. I felt that some details were repeated throughout the story, but that did not distract from it, just added to the thoroughness that she takes in pulling you into the world of Marion Garver.

I recommend Fallen to anyone that loves a good mystery. Throw in some romance, characters with distinct personalities, secrets, and a passion for finding the truth and you have a book that you will not want to put down!

Dinner with a Perfect Stranger: An Invitation Worth Considering, by David Gregory

This book is indeed about a PERFECT stranger.

Dinner with a Perfect Stranger: An Invitation Worth Considering was recommended to me by my massage technician. We have shared with each other books that we have found interesting enough to share with others and this was one that was memorable to her.

I was skeptical when I saw that it was a cute little book. I never expect those to pack much punch. I gave it a shot and was very impressed.

I felt like I was sitting alongside main character, Nick Cominsky and Jesus and eavesdropping on their conversation. I like that author, David Gregory touched on subjects relevant to believers and nonbelievers.

I would recommend this to others and would read other books by David Gregory.

Walk Like You Have Somewhere To Go, by Lucille O’Neal

Mom of well-know Shaquille O’Neal tells of Lucille’s life from childhood to current.

She tells of her life lessons growing up. Times that taught her. Family that had great influence on her. How she grew close to God and discovered, though she was not always focused on Him, He was right there waiting. O’Neal tells of how she has developed into a strong, God-praising woman and how that has influenced the way she has raised her children and continue to be a part of their lives.

She speaks of Shaquille, as well as her other children. I was skeptical that she might focus on Shaquille and his stardom. She did make mention of him throughout the book as they have such a close bond, but did not focus the book on him.

This is an uplifting, easy read

Buying, Training & Caring for Your Dinosaur, by Laura Joy Rennert

Laura Joy Rennert has written an exciting dinosaur book that takes a new look at dinosaurs.
If you were to buy a dinosaur, which would be best suited for you? This book will help you find out!
My son is 5 and a budding paleontologist. I was quite impressed that there was even a dinosaur in here that he had not heard of! He looked very carefully at every page, beautifully illustrated by Marc Brown. I could see him concentrating and considering which dinosaur would be best for him.
We thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book and there is no question that we will read it over and over again!

The Walk: Clear Direction and Spiritual Power for Your Life, by Shaun Alexander

Alexander had a reputation as a player as being selfish and having a huge ego. This book feels like the Christian version of that reputation. The book is labeled as a sort of guide to walking with God, with steps along the way. Each chapter is a step and they are broken down into subcategories of overview, obstacles and how to get past them. Very quickly, this book becomes very repetitive. You could read just about any chapter and get the gist of the whole book. Alexander tries to throw in some football analogies, but really doesn’t do it well. Alexander also makes some very interesting claims about God telling him to do things and say things to people. I am sure he means to relay that through his relationship with God, he is able to hear and obey him, but in the tone of the book, it comes off more as a description of a Christ-like figure, healing people.
There are good things to take away from the book, though. The overall message is a good one, and any of the chapters by themselves can be useful as a “playbook”. Fans hoping to get more of a football-centric book will be disappointed, but people just looking for a spirituality guideline can certainly take some good things out of it.

Why I Blog

Four months ago I was weak, always sick, discouraged and living in a seamlessly never ending blurry mess of a life. I am a happily married wife of 4 1/2 years, a mommy to a terrific 3 1/2 year old and employed full time. I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease 8 years ago. I also suffer with migraines, asthma, allergies, and get sick easily sick as my immune system is severely compromised due to the Crohns.

In December of 2008 I was introduced to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) and made a commitment to try it for one month. It is 4 months later and I have made this a life commitment as I am convinced that it has made a change in my health, in my life, and in my family’s life. I had tried a Gluten Free diet previous to the SCD diet and found that it did not eliminate enough to be effective. I found myself still weak, sick and discouraged. I gave up on this diet after 3 months. I had blood tests done that most insurances do not cover as they are considered experimental. These tests revealed intolerances that I have to particular foods in addition to the common foods to avoid in the SCD diet.

I never thought that I would jump on the bandwagon and become a “blogger”, but I want to be able to help at least one person that may be going through something similar. I know how devastating it can be to deal with medical conditions while trying to be a good spouse, an energetic parent, and to always seem to fall short. While working towards becoming healthy, we are on a very restrictive budget as we have our own business and have limited income. Due to my illness I have missed a lot of work and have only been bringing in the equivalent of a part time income, if that for over a year now. I am having to purchase foods that are not as easily acquired as some, and can be more pricey than most foods at the corner grocery store. I am cooking every day and if you know me, this is almost impossible to fathom…Jenn cooking!

I want to share my experiences with you, learn from you, and hope to encourage you in this journey to affordable health for you and your family. I refuse to go on the fetus-harming “drugs” and IV treatments that are recommended and encouraged by GI doctors for Crohns/Colitis patients. This is why I am choosing a lifestyle change that involves diet. This will have no negative side effects and it is not only helping my gut, but the other issues I have dealt with. It can only make me healthier, while “drugs” will deal with the one problem and have many side effects.

By blogging I intend to hold myself accountable to making this a lifestyle change, doing so under a budget and not doing so just for myself, but for my husband, my son, and for you.
